Type: Moss

Growth Rate: Slow to Moderate

Did You Know?
Flame Moss grows in a unique upward twisting pattern rather than spreading flat like many other moss species. This vertical growth habit creates the appearance of small green flames rising from the surface.

Tank Size: Suitable for aquariums 10 L (2.5 gallons) or larger.

Plant Placement: Often attached to driftwood branches or vertical surfaces, where its upward spiral growth creates a flame-like appearance. It pairs nicely with plants such as Anubias barteri and Microsorum Windelov, while background plants like Rotala red blood can add color contrast.

Compatibility: Ideal for aquariums with shrimp colonies, nano fish, and snails. Shrimp such as cherry shrimp, crystal shrimp, and Amano shrimp frequently graze within the moss. Small fish like chili rasboras or ember tetras often use moss clusters as shelter.

Substrate: Does not require planting; attach to hardscape.

Light: Low to moderate lighting (20–40 PAR) for 6–8 hours daily.

Temperature: 20–28 °C (68–82 °F)

pH: 6.0 – 7.5

Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water.

CO₂: Optional.

Care & Propagation: Trim occasionally to maintain compact growth. Moss fragments can easily grow into new plants.

Portion Size 1 plastic cup portion (3.25 oz) filled with healthy aquarium moss. This portion can typically cover a small piece of driftwood, several rocks, or multiple aquascape accents depending on how it is divided.

Plant Size Moss portions vary naturally in shape and density depending on growth stage.

Plant Type Loose moss portion suitable for attaching to driftwood, rocks, mesh, or other aquascape hardscape.

Snail-Free & Aquarium Safe
Plants are grown without chemicals that could harm fish, shrimp, or other aquarium inhabitants and are carefully inspected to ensure they are snail-free.

Transition After Shipping
Moss may appear slightly compressed after shipping but will expand naturally once placed in the aquarium.

Planting Guide

  1. 1.Remove the moss from the plastic cup and rinse gently with clean water.
  2. 2.Separate the moss into smaller portions if desired.
  3. 3.Spread the moss over rocks, driftwood, mesh, or decorations.
  4. 4.Secure the moss using fishing line, thread, or aquarium-safe glue.
  5. 5.Over time the moss will attach naturally and begin to grow.
