🌿 Bucephalandra “Green Wavy” introduces a flowing rhythm to aquascapes, where plant form follows the natural lines of the layout rather than breaking them. Its undulating leaves guide the eye smoothly across the scape, helping create a more continuous visual flow.

Ideal for Nature Aquarium, jungle, and riverbank-style aquascapes
Its curved leaf form works especially well in layouts designed around wood, stone, and soft planting transitions.

Supports layouts built around curved hardscape lines
Follows the direction of driftwood and rock instead of interrupting the composition.

Helps connect separate planting zones
Bridges foreground and midground areas without creating sharp visual breaks.

Fills space without adding visual weight
Adds presence while keeping the aquascape open and balanced.

Stable long-term growth
Maintains its form without frequent trimming or heavy maintenance.

Origin: Borneo (Kalimantan region)

Type: Rhizome plant

Growth Rate: Slow

Size: Height: 5–9 cm (2–3.5 in) Width: 6–12 cm (2–5 in)

Natural Habitat: Bucephalandra “Green Wavy” grows attached to submerged wood and rock surfaces in low-light stream sections where water movement is steady but not turbulent, allowing flexible leaf structures to develop.

Special Considerations: Leaf waviness increases gradually as new growth adapts to stable submerged conditions. Fluctuations in light and nutrients may result in flatter or less defined edges. Do not bury the rhizome.

Did You Know? The wave pattern is not fixed—new leaves often emerge flatter and develop curvature over time, meaning the plant’s appearance evolves as it matures in the aquarium.

Tank Size: Suitable for aquariums 20 L (5 gallons) or larger

Plant Placement: Best positioned along curved hardscape lines or transitional zones where directional flow is important. Works well at the base of branching driftwood or along sloped rock structures. Pairs effectively with structured plants such as Bucephalandra “Belindae” and Anubias barteri to create contrast in form, while stem plants like Rotala rotundifolia “Orange Juice”, Ludwigia repens “Rubin”, and Limnophila sessiliflora provide vertical layering. Fine textures such as Taxiphyllum barbieri (Java moss) and Taxiphyllum sp. “Flame moss” can be used nearby to reinforce gradual transitions.

Compatibility: Suitable for peaceful community aquariums including harlequin rasboras, glowlight tetras, pearl danios, Endler’s livebearers, and Corydoras panda, along with shrimp such as cherry shrimp and blue dream shrimp. Its curved leaf structure complements steady swimming patterns, allowing fish movement to appear more continuous, while shrimp forage naturally along leaf edges and hardscape surfaces.

Substrate: Rhizome should not be buried; attach to rocks or driftwood

Light: Low to medium (20–50 PAR) for 6–8 hours daily

Temperature: 20–27 °C (68–80 °F)

pH: 6.0 – 7.5

Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (3–12 dGH)

CO₂: Not required, but supports more consistent leaf development

Care & Propagation: Maintain stable conditions and moderate flow to support consistent leaf formation. Growth occurs through slow rhizome extension, producing new nodes over time. Propagate by dividing the rhizome, ensuring each section includes roots and active leaves.

Portion Size 1 carefully selected rhizome cluster 6x6cm in 3.25oz cup, ready for aquarium placement

Plant Size Plants are typically 4–7 cm (1.5–3 in) tall depending on growth stage

Plant Type Rhizome plant suitable for attachment to hardscape

Snail-Free & Aquarium Safe
Plants are grown without chemicals harmful to fish, shrimp, or other aquarium inhabitants and are carefully inspected to ensure they are snail-free

Transition After Shipping
Some older leaves may change appearance as the plant adapts to new aquarium conditions. New submerged growth will develop under stable conditions

Planting Guide

  1. Remove the protective plastic packaging
  2. Rinse the plant gently with clean water
  3. Attach the plant to rock or driftwood using glue or thread
  4. Ensure the rhizome remains above the substrate and is not buried
  5. Place in a stable area with low to moderate light

Tip
Place this plant along natural flow lines in the layout to emphasize its curved leaf structure and directional movement. Aquascaping tweezers and scissors from your aquascaping tool set make it easier to position plants and adjust surrounding growth without disturbing the layout.
