Ideal for Nature Aquarium, jungle, and focal-point layouts
Works well in designs where certain plants need to stand out clearly.

Suitable for intermediate and advanced aquascapers
Performs best in stable setups where its full form can develop.

Larger, more defined leaf structure
Creates a stronger visual presence compared to compact Buce types.

Acts as a focal or anchor plant
Helps establish key areas within the aquascape.

Maintains long-term stability
Slow growth keeps its position and structure consistent over time.

Origin: Borneo (Kalimantan region)

Type: Rhizome plant

Growth Rate: Slow

Size: Height: 8–15 cm (3–6 in) Width: 8–15 cm (3–6 in)

Natural Habitat: Bucephalandra “Kedagang” grows attached to rocks and wood in shaded stream environments where stable flow and mineral-rich water support larger, more developed leaf structures.

Special Considerations: Requires stable conditions to maintain leaf size and shape. Moderate flow helps keep larger leaves clean. Do not bury the rhizome.

Did You Know? Larger Bucephalandra types like “Kedagang” develop thicker leaves, which makes them more resistant to minor damage and ideal for long-term placement in stable aquascapes.

Tank Size: Suitable for aquariums 30 L (8 gallons) or larger

Plant Placement: Best used as a midground focal plant attached to rocks or driftwood where it can develop fully without being crowded. Works well as a visual anchor near hardscape structures. Pairs effectively with finer plants such as Bucephalandra “Super Mini” and Micranthemum tweediei “Monte Carlo” to create contrast in scale, while background stems like Rotala rotundifolia “Orange Juice”, Ludwigia repens “Rubin”, and Limnophila sessiliflora provide height behind it. Combines naturally with structured plants such as Bucephalandra “Belindae” for layered compositions.

Compatibility: Suitable for aquariums including rummy nose tetras, black neon tetras, pearl danios, Corydoras sterbai, and bristlenose plecos (in appropriate tank sizes), along with shrimp such as Amano shrimp and blue dream shrimp. Its larger leaves create defined zones around hardscape, encouraging fish to move between structured areas while maintaining clear visual boundaries.

Substrate: Rhizome should not be buried; attach to rocks or driftwood

Light: Low to medium (20–50 PAR) for 6–8 hours daily

Temperature: 20–27 °C (68–80 °F)

pH: 6.0 – 7.5

Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (3–12 dGH)

CO₂: Not required, but supports stronger leaf development

Care & Propagation:
Maintain stable conditions to support full leaf development. Growth occurs through slow rhizome expansion, producing new shoots over time. Propagate by dividing the rhizome into sections with healthy leaves and roots.

Portion Size 2 carefully selected rhizome plant 4-5cm, ready for aquarium placement

Plant Size
Plants are typically 6–12 cm (2.5–5 in) tall depending on growth stage

Plant Type
Rhizome plant suitable for attachment to hardscape

Snail-Free & Aquarium Safe
Plants are grown without chemicals harmful to fish, shrimp, or other aquarium inhabitants and are carefully inspected to ensure they are snail-free

Transition After Shipping
Some older leaves may change appearance as the plant adapts to new aquarium conditions. New submerged growth will develop under stable conditions

Planting Guide

  1. Remove the protective plastic packaging
  2. Rinse the plant gently with clean water
  3. Attach the plant to rock or driftwood using glue or thread
  4. Ensure the rhizome remains above the substrate and is not buried
  5. Place in a stable area with low to moderate light

Tip
Place this plant near key hardscape elements to create a strong focal point within the layout. Aquascaping tweezers and scissors from your aquascaping tool set make it easier to position plants and adjust surrounding growth without disturbing the layout.
